About Us

Founded in 2021, NEVAEH ‘OHI’A SANCTUARY, INC. was born from a deep desire to serve the Maui County community during times of uncertainty and adversity. In the early years, our organization remained dormant as we researched and explored the most effective ways to support the mental and emotional well-being of our neighbors. During this time, we operated without funding, as we focused on understanding the unique needs of the Maui community.
In August 2023, tragedy struck when the Lahaina wildfires devastated the island, displacing families and leaving a lasting scar on the community. Rising to meet the urgent need, NEVAEH ‘OHI’A SANCTUARY, INC. mobilized immediately. We personally delivered food, water, and supplies to fire survivors in the burn zones. With no grants or external funding, our founder supported these efforts out of their own pocket, demonstrating unwavering commitment to community care.
As the community began to rebuild, we expanded our efforts to include free yoga classes for fire survivors. These trauma-informed sessions provided a safe space for individuals to heal through mindful movement and breathing techniques. For over a year, these classes offered solace to those impacted by the fires, until external circumstances forced the closure of our distribution hub and park permits were rescinded.
Although these challenges have tested our resilience, they have also reinforced our dedication to our mission: fostering healing and well-being through holistic practices, trauma-supportive yoga, and meditation. Today, NEVAEH ‘OHI’A SANCTUARY, INC. continues to serve populations from all backgrounds, ensuring equitable access to compassionate care and community support, no matter the obstacles.
